Have you volunteered before?
Yes I have volunteered in the Caribean in Granada at the Granada SPCA, Phuket in Thailand for the SOI Dog Foundation, and in Bhutan for the Pilou Medical Center. I have also worked for Vets Beyond Borders in Gantok and now in Ladakh.
Tell us about your volunteer experience in Ladakh?
Ths is a very beautiful area to work the climate is good, the location is stunning and the people i have worked with are great. The availability of treks in a stunning environment is certainly one of the highlights of working in Ladakh. I also appreciate the apple strudel morning tea when we are working!
What do you think is the best aspect of the program?
Meeting like minded people in such an amazing place and retaining my veterinary surgical skills. Also getting to be in a remote area like Ladakh not as a tourist but as a volunteer.
What do you like most about being a volunteer?
Giving something back to the veterinary profession, meeting different people and traveling to remote locations. .
