Volunteers are required to adhere to the
following Terms and Conditions while taking part in Vets Beyond Borders
Projects
I agree to have all necessary vaccinations, as recommended by
my travel doctor, including the complete series of pre-exposure
rabies vaccinations, prior to traveling to the volunteer position.
I understand the risks of malaria and other diseases in other
countries and accept that it is my responsibility to consult my
travel doctor regarding the need for appropriate medications during
my visit.
I agree to obtain medical insurance and med-evac insurance prior
to traveling to the volunteer position and to provide the hosting
organization with a faxed or email copy of the ID card for these
policies, prior to my arrival.
I agree that Vets Beyond Borders may use, or give others permission
to use, any photos I take or are taken of me, without giving credit
to me, to further the work of Vets Beyond Borders (marketing,
reporting, funding etc).
I agree to hold Vets Beyond Borders indemnified, freed and harmless
against any claim, loss or damage arising out of any act of negligence
or omission by me during my volunteer time, in connection with
any worked related to Vets Beyond Borders or arising from contacts
made through the Vets Beyond Borders website.
To observe all the instructions given by the local hosting charity
and Vets Beyond Borders and act in conformity with those instructions.
To work alongside local staff and international volunteers as
instructed.
To refrain from committing Vets Beyond Borders, financially
or otherwise, without having received specific instructions or
an agreement to proceed.
To refrain from using my position to request advantages or favours
(particularly sexual favours).
To refuse any financial or material gifts or promises of such
gifts or other advantages, except for token presents which may
be customary.
To avoid making references to political or military situations
in official or private communications, including conversations,
telephone calls, radio messages, emails, faxes and letters.
To refrain from saying or doing anything as to contravene the
Principles of the hosting charity as outlined in their Policies,
whether on or off duty.
To observe strictly the law and regulations the local country
(and country of origin laws which apply to expatriates) including
those concerning security, traffic laws, drugs, sexual activities,
financial and currency regulations.
To pay due respect to the religious beliefs, customs and habits
of the local population, and conduct myself accordingly.
To refrain from engaging in inappropriate relations with members
of the local community and the local staff. This relates particularly
to relations with minors or prostitutes.
To dress in a manner appropriate to the assignment of volunteer.
To refrain from carrying any arms or ammunition on my person
or luggage.
To take advice from appropriate Embassy/High Commission personnel
and appropriate local personnel, if the security situation in
the hosting country should deteriorate.
