In addition to spay-neuter and rabies inoculation, rescue of ownerless, injured and ill donkeys, dogs, cows, bulls, goats, and occasional wildlife means every day brings unique challenges for diagnosis, treatment, and giving life-sustaining care to frightened and stressed new patients. This provides a wonderful opportunity for both experienced veterinary surgeons and lay people. For vets, it means making decisions without sophisticated diagnostic tools, it means communicating and comparing treatment protocols with Indian vets (Animal Aid employs 3 vets) and exploring treatment options which do not, by and large, include euthanasia. For lay people, animals face daily needs for close attention. They may be feeling stressed to be away from their neighborhoods on the streets, animals who may have had little kind human contact and whose trust needs to be won through patience and warmth. One-on-one attention saves lives. Persuading a frightened animal to eat may save her life. Providing stimulation to animals with longer-term care and confinement needs saves lives. You will find our crew exceptionally lively, diverse, experienced and welcoming. And Animal Aid is a great place to learn more about Rajasthan's colorful culture. Animal Aid treats about 100 animals a day.
