Media Release 12 April 2011.

The Illawarra Branch of the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA)  hosted their first charity event, “The Animal Angels Masquerade Ball”, on May 6th 2011 with $14 000 raised which will be donated equally between Vets Beyond Borders and the AVA Benevolent fund.

A great night was had by the 140 attendees and VBB really appreciate the support of the Illawarra AVA Branch in running this event . The Ball received great support from not only those within the veterinary industry but also the local business community.

VBB's President Dr Peter Howe, made a wonderful presentation to guests about what it means to volunteer for VBB. This was followed by charity auctions, a wonderful meal and dancing to finish the night.

VBB's special thanks go to the organisers - Dr Elicia Halliday (Illawarra Branch secretary/treasurer) and Andrea Boerkamp - as well as to the MC for the night, outgoing Illawarra Branch AVA President Dr David Brown, and to surprise attendee Gretel Killeen.
