David Darcy's "A little help for our friends" 2009.
Internationally recognised author/photographer David Darcy is releasing his fourth dog book entitled 'A Little Help for our friends' in an effort to save lives, raise awareness and help bring about change for some 400 million street dogs around the world. David has dedicated a A Little Help for our Friends to aid VBB and, in particular the street dogs this organisation cares for through its charitable work. With support from Bayer Advantage and Cenvet Australia, proceeds from the sale of each book go to VBB. The book is available in Australia through good book sellers and veterinary clinics nationally. The book will be launched with an exhibition of photographs at The Royal Oak Hotel, Double Bay, Sydney, Saturday 2nd May 2009 3-5pm.

David Darcy has been taking environmental portraits of dogs for the past decade. His canine subjects have been vast and varied, along with the locations - from the streets of New York, outback Australia to the jungles of Cambodia. David's latest assignment, documenting the field work of the Australian based charity Vets Beyond Borders in India had a profound effect on him. "The assignment challenged my views, broke my heart and opened my eyes to a world I knew very little about - the world of the street dog."

A Little Help from our Friends is a clever tongue in cheek book featuring uniquely Australian images of both pups and older dogs in colourful intimate portraits, David has added humour and style to his mix of photographic images with clever and comic text which appears to be from the dogs themselves. A Little Help for our Friends will be available in all good book sellers as well in Veterinary clinics nationally from 1st May in time for Mothers Day 2009.
