CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS REQUIRED: SMALL ANIMAL
(Short-term positions)
Project Vet-Train entails delivery of concise and carefully-targetted training to Indian veterinarians and para-veterinarians, to enhance and standardise the quality of veterinary services provided by veterinary personnel working with animal welfare groups in India.
The pilot phase of the project, made possible as a result of the generous support of its major sponsors, The Marchig Animal Welfare Trust and RSPCA International, commenced in February 2009 and will conclude in July 2009, by which time the VBB training faculty, comprising three veterinarians and three veterinary nurses, will have delivered clinical instruction to around 200 veterinarians and ancillary staff.
The project is scheduled to recommence in October 2009, delivering training to groups of around 30 veterinarians and para-veterinarians, in blocks of three weeks duration, focusing on the principles and application of sound anaesthetic and surgical technique and appropriate peri-operative care of small animals.
Once again, Vets Beyond Borders is seeking suitably-experienced colleagues to staff the team, which as before will comprise three veterinarians and three veterinary nurses.
Veterinarians should hold a degree registrable in Australia and ideally post-graduate qualifications in small animal surgery, anaesthesiology or critical care. Veterinary nurses should have successfully completed an accredited training course. Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.
Applicants should be able to commit to a minimum placement of seven weeks and preference may be given to those applicants willing to commit to longer placements, up to nine months. The rate of remuneration will be dependent upon the duration of the placement. International travel expenses will be covered and full board accommodation in apartment-style, air-conditioned units will be provided free-of-charge.
Team-leaders (veterinarian): remuneration up to the equivalent of $ 70,000 per annum
Veterinarians: remuneration up to the equivalent of $ 50,000 per annum
Veterinary nurses: remuneration up to the equivalent of $ 26,000 per annum
At this time we are seeking expressions of interest in the above positions. Please contact the Project Director, Ian Douglas: vettrain@vetsbeyondborders.org / +61 (0)4 1602 2178 and visit http://www.vetsbeyondborders.org/vet.train.project for further details.
