Volunteer Registration

Working as a volunteer is a very rewarding facet of a veterinary career. It offers great opportunities to utilise ones skills in a way that truly benefits animals and communities in need. It also leads to the building of personal relationships and contributes to improved cooperation and understanding – needed in this world now more than ever.

Registration process

Registration is free of charge and is necessary prior to participating on a Vets Beyond Borders project. The nature of the questions is to try and help us understand your experience and expectations so that you can gain an appropriate work placement.

The on-line registration process consists of two sections: provisional and full registration

• You do not have to complete both sections in one sitting but it is preferred
• Filling out the registration and questionnaire forms generally takes 20 minutes.

1st Section: Provisional

• This first section consists of your personal, professional and contact details plus contact details of 2 referees including their email addresses. You will need to have your veterinary governing body registration number on hand.
• It is of utmost importance that you provide the correct, current, working email address of your referees. It is recommended that you also contact them yourself to inform them that they will be sent an email from Vets Beyond Borders that they need to open and respond to. Depending on their email settings sometimes our emails go to the “bulk” inbox or “trash”, they may need to look there.
• To ensure timely processing please ensure that both your referee's respond to our email.
• Once the first section is completed, you can continue to the second section immediately or return at a later time via a link which will be emailed to you.

2nd Section: Full Registration

• The second section consists of questionnaire forms. The answers you provide here will help us determine if you are suitable for a current project placement.
• We will contact you again once your details and references have been reviewed. Please ensure that your referees receive and respond to our email. The process will then take 2-4 weeks. Remember that it is being performed by volunteers so please be patient and courteous.
